No sound at all with ALSA/Timidity, apart from a low-level, but high-pitched whistle. Sound recognizable (but no fun) with OSS/Timidity, seems somehow to interfere with graphical cursor walking thru the score: Opening a menu entry stops the cursor (but not the sound) and enhances sound output.
