Both options, OpenGL (Platinum) and Directx (Gold, beucase frame rate is less than half compared to OpenGL). OpenGL tends to be much faster, at least with NVidia BLOB driver. Multiplayer (online game) works flawlessly, and GameSpy (to locate friends) works well.
What does not
Saving game state is mandatory before close application, or metal.ini won't be updated with last game settings as well (only in OpenGL, DirectX doesn't need this procedure).
What was not tested
I tested also Build 61 and Build 44 (both English and Russian) and everything seems to be the same: they run as fine as build 57 does (build 61 is slower than 44 and 57 due to some undetermined issue regarding Wine DirectX implementation, probably because builds 44 and 57 use DirectX 7, while build 61 demands DirectX 8). At least you need build 57 to get in the Tourney Room (main lobby doesn't forbid versions prior 57). 90fps (average) with NVIDIA 8500GT, 1280x960x32bit in windowed mode and Xfce composite disabled (graphics run smoother rather than with composite enabled).
HWID "feature" doesn't work in Wine.
