What works

Installer : swwi\swsetup.exe with winetricks vcrun2005 ie6

Registration :  the registration window is displayed and can be filled.

Application :

Solidworks is mostly useable :

• files operations,
• all volumic and surfacic operations seem to works,
• graphic perfs are quite good, disply is quite perfect,
  
• OpenGL is really used by the application, with shaders !!!!
  

What does not

• winetricks vcrun2005 msxml6 ie6 is required
• The new IE-based installer (sldim.exe) doesn't work, problems with activeX controls
  
• regular installer (swsetup.exe or msiexec -i ) works but crashes at the end when registering application. But it completes.
•  Toolbox libraries, and some add-ons are not installed correctly. But they can be installed manually
• Graphics problems : toolbar icons are displayed with a black background instead of being transparent (bug 18507).
  
• refresh of left panel (property manager) is quite slow, an a black background is displayed
• an error message pops up everytime a file-related menu is called.
  
• occasional crashes or freeze when saving files (bug 9396). 
• no access to internet, for registration, or for online libraries when ie6 is activated. 
• some little problems with windows manager (compiz) for moving, redimensioning window (solved with gdiplus).
• Windows icons (close, maximize, etc) are not displayed (solved with winetricks gdiplus)
  
• all the window is displayed black at startup (solved with gdiplus)
  
• opening "personalized properties" tab on right panel crash the application
• internal "windows manager" behaves strangely : multiple windows placement is quite random...

Waouh ! really impressive ! The file save problem is the only thing tha prevents SolidWorks to be really usable with wine !
