What works

Installing and playing the whole game to the end, save/load etc... everything works.
Both Direct3D and SW rendering mode works.
Both full screen and Wine virtual desktop mode works.

What does not

In virtual desktop mode the mouse pointer cannot be moved to outside of the game window.
Full screen mode is only reliable as long as you don't fiddle around too much with the settings in for example winecfg (leading to totally messed up display, resolution, black screen, etc).

Additional Comments

Myst III: Exile version 1.27 DVD. There are hidden files on this DVD. Depending on how your Linux distro mounts the DVD these files will not be visible, which will give you the following error message when running Setup.exe: "The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be installed". To solve that problem, use for example the following commands: sudo umount /dev/dvd mkdir $HOME/Myst3 sudo mount -v -o unhide,ro /dev/dvd $HOME/Myst3 I used a 32-bit wineprefix, Windows XP, selected Full install including QuickTime 5.0.2, but not DirectX. In full-screen mode the game will be stretched on a widescreen monitor, which doesn't look as good as the normal 640x480. Virtual desktop will always be resized to 640x480. Oddly enough that is a resolution I could not select when creating the virtual desktop (game complains about resolution/color depth that cannot be supported). Selecting anything else, for example 800x600 works ok. I used command-line options to set up the virtual desktop, as winecfg is not reliable.
