What does not
The game had significantly worse performance than when run on Windows on the same machine with the same graphics settings. I haven't checked the exact FPS, but it was noticeably worse.
Using -DX9 as a launch argument(Steam->Library->Borderlands->Properties->Set Launch Options...) greatly improved the fps, to the point that it was almost equal, if not equal, to the fps I got on Windows.
