Simp install via wine msiexec.
Simp configuration utility. ( I chose only 'pidgin' as my chat client. )
Simp itself works, but Pidgin does not. Fortunately, Pidgin can be run natively and configured to use the proxy. Choose manage accounts, pick the account in question, and then modify. Choose Proxy: SOCKS4: 127.0.0.1, port 15050.
What does not
Pidgin has an issue with the font for the status line. With some specific content ( I don't know what ). When that content is present for any status, all status lines are rendered improperly, as empty boxes. If the user attempts to send a message to a person with a status line (any status line, as they are all rendered incorrectly), then the entire application is then rendered using opaque hollow boxes.
No one wants to touch this. Not #winehq, not #pidgin, and certainly not gnome #gtk+.
No one runs pidgin under Wine.
What was not tested
File transfers. Yet.
