The installer only works with some workarounds (if you disable the rollback in the temp folder, see details in the Workaround section).
What does not
Thanks to a previous tricks from gymka, the workaround on Ubuntu 17.10 is basically the same:
Installation workaround by gymka:
cd '~/.wine/drive_c/users/your_user/temp/ABBYY FineReader 10'
wine msiexec /i 'ABBYY FineReader 10 Professional Edition.msi' DISABLEROLLBACK=1Now finereader will install and won't delete files (finereader deletes files because the setup ends with an error).

Just follow the workaround and you'll be fine.
