before install use winetricks to: Install IE5 or above (PSE8 needs it) and flash (not sure if it needs it but it is an Adobe product...). Install vcrun2003, vcrun2005, vcrun2008, and vcrun2010 (PSE8 needs c++ librarys and will error without these). then install PSE8, It may seem that the install is hanging but just wait (up to 1hr) and it will proceed without errors. I accidentally installed it on the windows version of win 2000 but I changed it to win 7 and it works great. using 'wineboot -k' and 'wineboot -r' commands is probably needed to get PSE8 to open and run the editor without errors (I had to do this a couple times for some reasons). Switching from the trial version and entering a serial seemed to help so I didn't have to wineboot each time I wanted to open PSE8.
