What works

GoG installer works very well. Game works quite well and fast with DirectDraw renderer. Tested with screen resolution 1280x1024. Install old configtool from Demo version to change renderer. Sound works well with ALSA (no Pulseaudio here). Very rarely emits short static buzz after several hours of gaming. Rating this as Silver as DirectDraw renderer works and game is playable.

What does not

  • Direct3D renderer won't work properly. Floor shows cursor trails and menus overlap.
  • Crashes in the Council of Seven part when using Scrying Orbs (workaround: change renderer to Direct3D temporarily). Save in convenient location before trying this and use ALT-key to pick up Orbs from floor.
  • Hitting succubus on Council of Seven may crash/freeze game. Save before trying.
  • ALT-key activates KDE window moving. Workaround is to change window manager key to Meta-key in System Settings > Window Behaviour > Window Behaviour > Window Actions.
  • Map scrolling with Shift-key is captured by KDE window manager and it shows other windows. However, there is no drawbacks in this as game resumes correctly and you can avoid active window corners.
  • Before reaching CoS, during game play there are very rare crashes, can't reproduce them. About one crash per ten hours, not sure if it's flaky game or Wine. Save often.
