IETester is a free WebBrowser that allows you to have the rendering and javascript engines of IE8, IE7 IE 6 and IE5.5 on Windows 7, Vista and XP, as well as the installed IE in the same process.

What works

  • adding a "default ie" instance
  • browsing the web using the "default ie"
  • adding an "ie 5" instance
  • surfing to http://www.nu.nl
  • changing the theme
  • looking at the programoptions

What does not

  • add ie 6, 7, 8 buttons; shows a message the version of Internet Explorer can't be loaded.
  • browsing using ie 5 to http://www.tweakers.net
  • sometimes you have to restart IEtester before browsing works, but I believe this is also the case under Windows.

  • browsing using version 6,7,8 since those buttons fail
