What works

The entire game works fine at full framerate with sound

What does not

The mouse is not fully captured and keeps escaping the game window.

Fullscreen mode doesn't work properly.

The D3D renderer causes frequent crashes.

The OpenGL renderer displays some textures incorrectly.

Workarounds

To fully capture the mouse in the game window:

  1. After installing the game, run this command once:
    winetricks mwo=force
  2. To release the mouse while playing, press [Alt] + [Tab] and switch to another window.

Note: Mouse movement is a bit jittery.

To fix buggy fullscreen mode:

  1. Run:
    winecfg
  2. Go to the "Graphics" tab.
  3. Check "Emulate a virtual desktop". This will run the game in a window.

Note: The game itself must be running in fullscreen mode.

To switch from the D3D renderer to the OpenGL renderer:

  1. Edit the file System/Postal2.ini in the game's install folder using a text editor.
  2. Scroll down to the [Engine.Engine] section.
  3. Add a semicolon before all RenderDevice=* lines except the OpenGL one like so:
    ;RenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice
    ;RenderDevice=Engine.NullRenderDevice
    RenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice

HowTo / Notes

Mouse only works in top left 1/4 of the screen.

If the mouse only works on the upper left corner of the screen use this:

Open up regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\DirectInput

Add a key named MouseWarpOverride, and set it's value to force.
