To play the game, create a link to "~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/CAPCOM/Devil May Cry 4/nativePC" directory in "~/.wine/drive_c/users/Local Settings/Application Data/CAPCOM/DEVILMAYCRY4" directory. After that, you need only install wmp9 with winetricks and you can enjoy the game. Game run quite slowly, especially when playing movies. However, this is certainly due to my old hardware. On my GF 7600 GS at 800x600 and low detail I got an average of 16fps.

If you are discussing performance, keep in mind Devil May Cry 4 supports 120 fps and has a benchmarking tool.
Consider two milestones, 120 fps and 60 fps. Given the same hardware, do not rate Platinum or Gold if the game runs above >= 120 fps natively, but is limited to >= 60 and < 120 fps on Wine.
