Starts up cleanly. All screen elements render well with no glitchiness. Loads very large maps and renders and scrolls them cleanly. Allows the plotting of routes by adding waypoints. Also allows routes to be imported from external sources, such as online specialist sites.
Routes and maps can be imported and exported to a compatible external device that is mounted as an external drive.
Synchronised scrolling works well with little trace of lag between the two views.
3D views work well with no noticeable glitchiness.
Printing of maps works.
What does not
Button to invoke the Memory Map shop (this freezes the application). However the shop can be accessed via a normal web browser, so I do not consider this to be a barrier to use.
What was not tested
Use with devices that directly access the GPS device through a serial or USB link rather than via drive mapping.
I found this generally worked better on my Linux machine than it did on my Windows Laptop. However, the test machine for wine is a dual-core 64 bit AMD Athlon, while the laptop is only 32 bit and has less memory. Admin note: rating changed to conform to the rating definitions.
