The game works and runs really well once you get it installed and running, it requires no cracks or substantial hacks.(see extra comments for full details)

Graphics are good, no major artifacts or errors. At 1024x768 the game gets an average of 48FPS (max 90+) on my system (using the benchmark utility) being quite playable.  It is playable fullscreen on 1920x1200 with around 42FPS (max 72) with medium detal.

At the moment you are unable to save due to this game requiring Microsoft Games for Windows LIVE.

Rated bronze due to the save issue, though the game functions as well as a game at gold level. Rating will be reviewed once the game is playable with the save funciton. Here is the process I used to install and get the steam version running.You can of course use this as a guide or go on your own. - downloaded Batman:Arkham Asylum into a seperate wineprefix (you can skip this and use the same, I found this helpful for testing) - create a fresh new wineprefix - using winetricks install dotnet 2.0 & dotnet 3.0 - download and install the games for windows live client (gfwlivesetupmin.exe) - install steam into the wineprefix - start steam and either download Batman:AA or select install, quit and copy over the steamapps folder from another prefix - when ready, do not launch batman from steam but instead "view key" and copy to the clipboard - to launch batman, use a shortcut to start the program direct, e.g: env WINEDEBUG=-all WINEPREFIX="/home/maaddog/wineprefix/Batman" wine "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\batman arkham asylum\Binaries\BmStartApp.exe" You can use BmLauncher.exe to activate (hence the key) and configure the game and BmStartApp.exe to execute the main game. The game works well either fullscreen, windowed or with a virtual desktop.

This requires a recent version of Wine.

You will not be able to save your progress in game.  

Using winetricks install dotnet20 and dotnet30.  

In the Steam directory containing Batman rename the installscript.vds file. 

~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/batman arkham asylum/

Install Phsyx and GFWLfrom ./redist.  The latter requires the switch /nodotnet to install successfully. 

Run BmStartApp.exe from the ./Binaries folder.  Authenticate your key (retrieve from Steam) and activate the game. 

Run BmStartApp.exe to play the game.  

If the game fails to start due to .net errors then two configuration files need to be updated as is described here.

This game needs an XBox 360 gamepad to work. A user has reported getting it working with another gamepad with x360ce.
