I have download the game through the official Perfect World download (here: http://www.arcgames.com/en/games). Don't use Steam to do it. For Wine, install all the d3dx9 libraries and IE8. I have also used the CSMT version of Wine 1.7.31. As i use a Nvidia card (GTX 970), i have enabled the threaded optimizations before running the game: export GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATIONS=1 export LD_PRELOAD="libpthread.so.0 libGL.so.1" The first boot may take up 15min to do so (to arrive on the character selection screen, so don't panic if you're stuck on the "Star Trek Online Delta Rising" loading screen for a while), then it'll take between 30sec to 1min when you'll start the game the next times. On my side i have a good framerate with all the settings at the maximum (except the antialising which is at MSAA 4x).

�This game requires IE7+ to be installed for the Launcher to function.

If walking forward causes your character to roll you will need to enable a work around in the console before playing the game and once finished disable the work around.  This is a bug in X that has been fixed so newer distributions will not have this issue.

In general you will want to play STO using the low graphics option in the profile selector that comes up when the game loads.  If you have very recent hardware you will be able to play using the higher graphics option.
