Installation, video streaming and playing for channels with wmv encoding.
What does not
Random progress jumping and playing of the channels with mpeg4 codecs (probably duo to the limitation of the video player)
What was not tested
Using other codec package
The software installs without problem. To make PPStream run one needs to do the following: 1.Install Windows Media Player 10 and Gecko using winetricks. 2.Install ffdshow, also with winetricks. 3.Override ONLY the following dlls: jscript.dll, ntdll.dll, quartz.dll with the mode "Native then built-in". 4.Run regedit, find the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER->software->wine->Direct3D->DirectDrawRenderer, change the string to "gdi". 5.Start the executable "PPStream.exe" with environmental setting LANG=zh_CN.GB2312 (Otherwise you won't recognize the characters on the channel list) 6.Uncheck the software option "Using the video player from PPStream". (This can be done in the installation stage, or through the "Option" menu. If you cannot recognize the characters on the menu, do the following: on the 3rd menu from the left click on the bottom menu item. In the pop-up dialogue click on the 1st item on the left panel then uncheck the bottom checkbox on the right panel) 7.double-click on a channel from the channel list and have fun! (P.S. The channels cannot be played seem to be due to that the relevant codecs are not correctly associated with media player or the codecs are not working under wine. You are welcome to install other codecs packages or to suggest ways to make correct association.)
