Installer installs the (Desktop manager and device manager) software, but with some errors. Device manager loads.
What does not
Device manager loads, but does nothing. Desktop manager does not load, shows error. Device (9700, v5.0.0.423 firmware) does not connect.

Got my hopes up when it installed (it never did that with openSUSE 11.2 or Kubuntu 9.10 with various versions of wine) but all for naught. For a second there, I thought I could ditch my Win7 partition, since this is the only piece of software I am forced to use on Windows (I can't figure out BB tethering in Linux yet).
