Everything in the game seems to work "out of the box": Installation, graphics animations, sound effects, game play, and the "Chess Adventure" mode all work flawlessly in Wine's default settings.
What does not
The "User Guide" is a web page, and so does not launch using the installer-generated app menu item. However, it is not needed for game play, and the menu item is easily edited to make the '.htm' file launch with a native web browser instead.
What was not tested
Played chess all the way through, but did not attempt to play any of the "Chess Adventure" games to the end.
In order to keep the game from leaving your desktop resized when it shuts down, it's helpful to emulate a virtual desktop; 1024x768 works very well. If you want the User Guide to launch from the app menu, edit the menu property to run firefox "~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Majestic Chess/help/Majestic Chess.htm"
