What does not
Game does not launch.
What was not tested
This entire test is about Intel onboard cards that are more than capable of running this game on Windows on capped settings.
I used 32-bit wine. With default Windows 7 mode, the error I get is not informative enough but when I switch to Windows XP, I get the full error. I immediately see that game was not able to find various dlls which vcrun2005 provides. After its installation, I still was stuck a generic "failed to compile global shader" error which I tried to fix by installing DirectX 9, however it's not good.
This game, as of today, is not playable if you use your onboard Intel graphics on Linux with Wine. You have to play it on Windows.

Be aware, that aforementioned stand-alone config utility in version 1.0 (unpatched) of Mass Effect has many issues under Windows as well, ofted resulting in its hang.
This problem occurs mainly (but not exclusively) on quad-processor machines.
Patched version should have this problems fixed (supposedly).
