Starting the installer.
What does not
Completing installation, configuration util, mouse support in game.
What was not tested
Playing much of the game.
After crashing the installer about 20 times in various ways I decided to go with the manual installation described somewhere in the comments (unrar-ing the files myself). After that, the configuration utility simply crashes no matter what. However, after running some executables from the dvd I managed to get the game to run. The game shows a mouse cursor, but clicking doesn't work (nor does mouseover). Using the keyboard I went to the settings and changed a bunch of stuff which crashed the game. After restarting and going with the native dinput8.dll I finally had a somewhat working mouse, and managed to get a game going. However, the ingame mouse pointer is still very buggy and doesn't let you play at all (unless you can live without a mouse).

Be aware, that aforementioned stand-alone config utility in version 1.0 (unpatched) of Mass Effect has many issues under Windows as well, ofted resulting in its hang.
This problem occurs mainly (but not exclusively) on quad-processor machines.
Patched version should have this problems fixed (supposedly).
Get audio to work
Edit "Documents/BioWare/Mass Effect/Config/BIOEngine.ini"
Add the following under the "[ISACTAudio.ISACTAudioDevice]" section:
Ensure "Hardware Audio" is turned off in Sound settings in game
To get the MEUITM installer to work
A custom MassEffectModder.exe must be suppliedThis is seemingly due to it using functions not fully implemented in wine/mono
A hacky, usable version can be found here: https://github.com/DougTy/Mass...
Occasional "rendering exception" error while playing MEIUTM requires your game's binary be large address aware.
MassEffect.exe can be patched using this tool: https://www.techpowerup.com/fo...
Make a backup before patching!
