I'm using PlayOnLinux to start the steam, and I'm starting the game.

Unfortunately after start the game I have an crash.
In console there is following error:

err:winediag:xrandr12_init_modes Broken NVIDIA RandR detected, falling back to RandR 1.0. Please consider using the Nouveau driver instead.

Do you know how to fix that without changing video driver?

I am actually using a fixed exe (no-cd crack) to run the game without steam. It is a proper steam installation, I'm just starting it with the fixed exe.

I can hear the main menu (by moving the mouse around) and I can hear the intro video. But the screen stays the same. Any suggestions? I tried both wine+nine and wine without nine, no change.

Never seen that, looks like graphic driver bug more than anything.

Try running in virtual desktop if that helps.
Try disabling steam in-game overlay.
Are you using a widescreen patch for swkotor?

Oh! And try disabling movies in the swconfig.exe utility

I am not running it via Steam.
I am using the widescreen patched exe (the other one does not work at all)

I figured out the problem: When I disable AA it works flawlessly.

Ah, well, if that bug gets accepted, please inform me here, I'll put it up in notes for everyone to see.

Game doesn't even load.

1. create new prefix for kotor

$ winetricks prefix=$HOME/.local/share/wineprefixes/kotor winecfg
1a. let winecfg do its thing

2. Install Steam
$ WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.local/share/wineprefixes/kotor wine msiexec -i $HOME/.cache/winetricks/steam/SteamInstall.msi

3. Run Steam properly
$ cd $HOME/.local/share/wineprefixes/kotor/drive_c/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/Steam/ && WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.local/share/wineprefixes/kotor wine ./Steam.exe -no-dwrite

4. Install Kotor (wait 20minutes)

5. Run it from steam (click play now).... game doesn't appear (it's running as visible with `ps -fe | grep kotor`)


Installed wine from ubuntu ppa.

$ dpkg -l wine | grep wine

Could you try the widescreen patcher? It helped me a while ago in such cases.
But I have only 32bit linux...

I'm getting choppy/glitchy/skipping/cracking sounds running this in 1.5.20. I'm getting the error/notice "ALSA lib pcm.c:7339:(snd_pcm_recover) underrun occurred" in the terminal output, but searching for this error has so far not resulted in a solution, but the search results strongly suggest that it is indeed linked to the badly behaving sounds.

I have PulseAudio running and is experimenting with suspending it, not running it, etc., but so far no go. Any and all hints and suggestions would be appreciated.

Replacing 1.5.20 with a build of the repo.or.cz/w/wine/multimedia.git patches against 1.5.19 and using winepulse.drv instead of winealsa.drv makes the sound work flawlessly.

Is there an issue in the bugtracker for this? If not could you please create one? It can then be linked here for reference.

Debian GNU/LINUX 64 bits, Integrated Intel chipset.

In the title screen and in game, the game was only in grey, apparently lacking textures. I read that it was a problem due to the lack of S3TC support, and that it was needed to disable it, or install a package that include it.
Disabling using driconf breaks other games, so I reverted that change.
The package pointed out was one from the deb-multimedia repository but there is also a free implementation on Debian official repository, the package libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0.

As my wine is from i386 (multiarch), I installed it with:
sudo aptitude install libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0:i386

On a Toshiba Satellite L300 with Ubuntu 10.04, whenever I open swkotor, I get a menu which is all white except for a black Malak and black fog. The text of the menu appears in blue and the mouse is functional but the cursor is simply a white box.

I've verified the cache, disabled movies and disabled hardware mouse.

The black fog thing occured to me on Windows a long time ago. I fixed it by tyrning off the antialiasing on the card. I did get it to work then by using a different kind of AA i think

My game is freezing, just when I'm getting to the hangar to leave taris, there is a dialog and the game will not respond anymore. The animation is still working since I can see the characters moving a little bit. but the dialog will not advance or allow me to skip.

Anyone knows how to resolve this?
im using 1.3.0 with an integrated intel card from an i3 in a 64bits ubuntu 10.04

I do have wine 1.3, can't upgrade right now, but I doen complete playthrough on 1.0.34. As I just tried to test 1.2 I couldn't make it run until I remembered to run the fixed exe for Widescreen.

So maybe that would help you also. I used UniWS patcher to make that exe (www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/UniWS).
