Using mesa 17.1.3-1 and version 1.3.0-1 of open source amdgpu driver; game does not start, errors with "Fatal DirectX error! Code: 2 Result: 0x0: S_OK The game will now exit. Try starting the game with /failsafe if the problem persist." Attempting to force DirectX 9, different Windows versions, and adding /failsafe to the launch options of the game did not alter this message in any way.
