  • Auto wiring of INVENTOR icons
  • Supports the LEGO Camera and standard digital web cameras (PC and Mac)
  • Improved remote internet control
  • In the Piano Player, choose music to download to your RCX or compose your own

  • Pilot
  • View camera display while program runs
  • Upload RCX programs to PILOT

  • Inventor:
  • View camera display while program runs
  • Use camera as intelligent vision sensor with image processing

  • Investigator
    Supports Additional Sensors
  • DCP Current Probe (-1A to + 1A)
  • DCP LUX light level sensor
  • DCP Designer Sensor analogue (0-2.5V)
  • DCP Barometric/Low Air Pressure
  • DCP Accelerometer - 2 alternative scales both G and m/s/s Redox/Ion Selective Electrodes (-1250mV to + 1250mV)

  • All versions of ROBOLAB software can be used with the Infrared Transmitter with Serial Cable. However, the ROBOLAB 2.5 is required to use the Infrared Transmitter with USB tower.

    ROBOLAB Software ver. 2.0
In addition to all the benefits of the ROBOLAB 1.5 this version offers datalogging with the Inventor level. A software which can be used for:
  • Collecting data via sensors and the RCX 1.0 and uploading it to the computer via IR tower
  • Analysing and exploring and presenting the data collected

  • The software contains the following five areas:
Journal Area - Used to discuss and predict your science project
Programme Area - Used to write programme for the RCX. Has five levels of programming - 3 levels in pilot and 3 levels in inventor
Upload Area - Used to get the data from the RCX
Compare Area - Used to look ate the data that has been gathered - has five levels of viewing
Compute Area - Used to observe and manipulate data - has five levels of computing from simple statistics to taking derivatives and integrals.

The Data-logging Software is prepared to use the following sensors via the input port on the RCX:
  • Temperature Sensor
  • Rotation Sensor
  • Touch Sensor
  • Light Sensor
  • DCP Sensor

  • Language versions : English, Danish, Norwegian Spanish. German.

INVESTIGATOR programming area in ROBOLAB allows you to create and program your own specific experiments. The interface is simple allowing students to plan, build, program, run, and record data collected from their own experiments. It also allows the bundling and presentations of these experiments.
  • Sample programs are available
  • Multiple programming commands available
  • >
  • Open programming environment
  • Allows the use of inputs, outputs, containers, sensors, timers, waitfors, loops, etc. etc.

    What works

I have tried Investigator G-Code, writing programs in Inventor, and discovering how easily the program's source code can be uncovered, by pressing Ctrl-. and then Ctrl-E. This works.

    What does not

The driver for the USB IR tower seems to be missing, so because all I have is a USB tower, I can't communicate with the RCX. The vision center can't detect my camera, so I couldn't use it. I also couldn't click on windows such as the context help, the tools palette, and the functions palette, so I had to change tools with the space bar and tab key and select functions by right-clicking on the background and using the palette there.

    Workarounds

    What was not tested

The IR tower wasn't working, so there is a very large amount that can't be tested because of that! Also, my camera wasn't detected, so the vision center couldn't be tested. I didn't test the Investigator features besides programming.

    Additional Comments

There is a bug in pilot where if your camera doesn't work, an image that dates from Tufts University when the program was being tested appears in the camera window while the camera select box appears.
