Installation and patching to version 1.2 works like a charm.
The game is very playable with software rendering enabled but very slow and sluggish with Direct3d rendering.
What does not
The mouse isn't visible in the game menu, but can be used by hovering blindly over the buttons. The buttons will change in color when hovering over them. So it is possible to select them blindly.
Direct3d rending does work, but it works very slow. In my opinion to slow to be playable with Direct3d rendering. Instead use software rendering, this works.
What was not tested
Glide rendering mode wasn't tested. It might be worth a try using some sort of glide wrapper.
Use software rendering for playing. This was tested on an Athlon K8 with a Geforce 7600 GS videocard.
