What works

MetaTrader is a complex software.

At a first glance everything seems to be working fine, or at least the very essentials:

• Interface (menus, dialogues, tabs, sounds, modals, etc)
• Buy/Sell
• Account login
• Software start up/shut-down
• Charts
• Drawing
• Indicators

i was successfully able to use login into a demo account, draw lines (support/resistance), apply indicators (and effectively use them), perform operations (buy, sell, close).

What was not tested

As stated, MetaTrader is a complex software, there are many small details in very specific cases that should be tested, but I still could not.

There is an official article on their website stating the following:

Known Issues
As was already mentioned above, Wine is not a completely stable software. Thus, some functions of the MetaTrader 5 terminal may work improperly. Currently the following issues are discovered:
MQL5 Market is unavailable
Except for the above problem, you can enjoy all the features of MetaTrader 5 on Ubuntu.

However this statement is outdated (18 January 2013, 07:18) and refers to an old Wine version (3.0).

• GPU: Nvidia
• Driver: proprietary

Additional Comments

Installed Wine from WineHQ (repository addition) and auto Mono and Gecko install (when Wine asked for).

No warnings/errors so far.
