What works

- Installation: The game can be found and installed from the Steam store

- Gameplay: I did a race on the map "Airport Terminal" and found nothing wrong the game (No glitches, crashes and was happily triggering powerplays)

- Menus

Tested the gameplay with "Low", "Medium" and "Very High" settings. The race starts with a bit of lag, but after a few seconds, the lag goes away.

What does not

Workarounds

What was not tested

- Extended gameplay

- Multiplayer/LAN

- Controller input: I tested it with a PS3 controller and the game refused to detect it. However, it does the same on Window (Solution: Emulate an XBox 360 Controller?)

Hardware tested

Graphics:

  • GPU: Nvidia
  • Driver: proprietary

Additional Comments

Installation

- I created a fresh 32bit WINEPREFIX

- I set the Windows version in the prefix to Windows 7, though I'm not sure how much it does

- Installed Steam using the official Installer

- (Added a drive as I have my games installed on a different drive)

- Started the Game using Steam

Performance

A possible way of gaining some performance as Split/Second seems to do weird things with shaders is to run the game with `WINEDEBUG=-all` to disable all debug output from Wine.

Running

Split/Second seems to not restore the original resolution after it crashes (I experienced some crashes when experimenting with different versions of Wine). So I would recommend to run Split/Second with a virtual desktop, when testing things out.
