What works

Installed corefonts using winetricks to get past initial splash screen; "loading" screen displays without error while attempting to load executable file, but ultimately times out without result.

Running in CLI resulted in message "install the Windows version of Mono to run .NET executables"; per FAQ suggestion, next installed mono19 using winetricks; still not running - see "what does not work" below:

What does not

after installing mono19 with winetricks, running in CLI yielded terminal output as follows (simplified & truncated for clarity & brevity):

err:module:import_dll Libraryalamode.Guardian.dll  not found

assembly alamode.Common.Library  not found in Global Assembly Cache of Mono path

unhandled exception: could not load type 'alamode.WinTOTAL.UI.program'

err:dialog:EndDialog got invalid window handle ((nil))

and finally, the dreaded buggy app!? comment

Going back to the FAQ, it appears .NET is not supported very well in WINE.  Now what?  Can ANYONE help get this running?!

What was not tested

everything else.  Unless additional support for .NET workarounds is forthcoming with different results, all of us real estate practitioners are OUT OF LUCK!!!  Can anyone help with additional troubleshooting and developing a workaround?  See below...

Additional Comments

Don't take my word for it, research it yourself and find out that ACI, WinTOTAL, Total2010, ClickForms, Home 'Puter. and NCV (have I missed any?) are ALL Windows-based programs. What's the deal? There are NO ALTERNATIVE REAL ESTATE APPRAISAL PROGRAMS WHATSOEVER designed to run on Linux systems; developers don't (won't?) offer Linux versions; and until one of these programs works in Wine, we are at the mercy of the software vendors and their offerings solely for MS Windows OS. Where's the "freedom" in that? Must I learn how to program, change careers, and develop my own Linux offering? Seems extreme for such a simple request...ONE viable real estate appraisal software program that works reasonably well on Linux systems!! Can ANYONE PLEASE HELP with a viable solution?!!!
