HowTo / Notes

Improve Diagram Drawing Speed
If EA slows down after opening a diagram.

Try changing the renderer type to "Basic"
The "Renderer" option can be found under
Tools -> Option - Diagram -> Appearance.

(This appears to be an issue with certain XOrg versions)
WARNING - Requires msxml4

The builtin msxml4 isn't good enough to support Enterprise Architect.

You must install msxml4 via winetricks

10.10 report errata
by ChanibaL on Thursday March 17th 2011, 8:29
Note, I didn't add one winetrick to my 10.10 report, you require
winetricks msxml4

Also did:
winetricks allfonts
just to be sure

For the help browser to work, I had to install ie6. I did it using "winetricks ie6".
Why do they need dcom98?
by Dan Kegel on Tuesday June 22nd 2010, 22:37
Gee, dcom98 is kind of unusual these days. Can some
enterprise architect user report on what happens if you
don't install dcom98?

dcom98 is to workaround the issue in oleaut32 when dealing with ODBC connections.
See bug

In version 8.0 they have worked around the issue. Anything below version 8 will exhibit the above bug.

There is also an issue with scripting when using buildin oleaut32/rpcrt4.

I don't think I have dcom98 installed. Enterprise Architect works fine for me, but maybe there are features I don't use that need it.
