What works
Installation works with wine suplied msi install, do not use the original MS version. Game play works but need native library settings for mfc42d, mscsp60, msvcå60, msvcrt. Configuration utillity works. The Ring2 builder works.
What does not
configuring the game with DINPUT and not haveing US or C locale will result in garbage in all text boxes if any of the ALT,CTRL, SHIFT Fn keys are hold down for autorepeat to kick in, setting locale and lang to en_US and running xset -r for each of the offending keys overcomes this. Patching does not work, since this is done via a bat file and the internal command interpreter in wine seems to shoke on the syntax, an external comunity suplied perl script is still neded. Sound works in the sense that there is noice coming from the speakers but due to the long standing dsound underrun problem alsa driver probelm in wine it is in practice unusable.

Additional Comments
latest install with up to date patches of ryzom client used with the exception on sound the only thing there is only two things not working: patching and keyboard direct input. Both of which are probably easy to fix.

In Section "Device" of your xorg.conf file you should check that Option "DynamicTwinView" "true" is set. ÂIn section screen you should set your resolution and RefreshRate by just adding the line Option "MetaModes" "1280x1024_75 +0+0; 1280x1024 +0+0" (modify to your needs - this line is for a 17" flat panel).
You'll notice that every app that uses xrandr extension to read and set resolution will have the values all messed up, but that's a known issue and it still works well. Set Ryzom to use the new RefreshRate by selecting it in ryzom_configuration_rd.exe.
