Installation works. Since you have to change cds during installation, it can be a bit difficult. But from my experience the installation program doesn't lock the drive, so you should be able to switch to another console and use eject and mount to mount the second cd. Another recommendation that has been mentioned is to use supermount. Also, if you pick the smallest installation, you won't have to swap cds during installation. Beside, on most modern computers(meaning anything better than a pentium 1) you will hardly notice the difference between the smallest and the largest installation in terms of time.
All aspects of the game seems to work, but a bug with the console functions in the kernel prevents the game from doing certain things in the menu. This includes exiting the game and loading a saved game. See extra comments for a workaround.
What does not
Loading and exiting, unless you use the workaround mentioned in extra comments. Also, when you run the game, you will get both the X cursor and the games cursor on top of each other, which can be a bit annoying. The workaround to this is to switch to another application once you have started Broken Sword 1, and then use the mouse to click back into the game(just move the window you switch to a bit, and click the game in the background). After that, the cursor will act the way it's supposed to for the rest of the time you play.
Also, sometimes the game will hang after you exit it. This is no cause for alarm, just run "wineserver -k" to kill it.
What was not tested
Playing the game from start to end. I tried to play at many different places in the game, from different save games.
This game works flawlessly with some workarounds. The solution to make it possible to save and to exit, is to run the game like this: wineconsole --backend=user Winsword.exe if you run 0.9.46, you can type: wineconsole Winsword.exe That's because 0.9.46 defaults to using the user backend. You have to run that command in the directory where you installed Broken Sword(C:\Sword / ~/.wine/drive_c/Sword usually).
