What works
Installing (Requires some tweaks sometimes).
Playing the game at minimum graphic details. Higher detail levels cause a very low frame rate resulting in an impossible to play game.
What does not
High detail graphic settings.
Patching. The existing patches for Gorky 2 are not meant for the Italian version and will corrupt your installation.
Nothing related to the game. I played the game from start to finish.
Workarounds
What was not tested
Nothing.

Additional Comments
The installation procedure could need some manual intervention. Mount the cdrom and launch the installer executable: wine /mnt/cdrom/setup.exe This could go on as expected, but sometimes the installer hangs. If the installer were to hang: press Ctrl+C in the installation window, wait some 10 / 15 seconds and repeat the Ctrl+C command in the shell from which you run the wine command. This should do the trick. To start the game don't use the Launcher.exe program: it crashes. Cd to the game ~/bin directory and run wine ./game.exe instead. When You first run the game You'll have to register it before playing, but the registration window never appears. This seems somewhat of a windows issue too. The game forum (Recently closed. It seems bryo transformed into a software developer for law firms ?!?) contains many complaints about the missing window. A workaround consists of opening the registry with an editor and saving the code in the proper field (default): The registry node varies between the 32 bit and the 64 bit Wine version. 32 Bit [Software\\Bryo\\AuroraWatching] @="XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX" "FolderPath"="Aurora Watching" "GamePath"="C:\\Program Files\\AuroraWatching" 64 bit [Software\\Wow6432Node\\Bryo\\AuroraWatching] @="XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX" "FolderPath"="Aurora Watching" "GamePath"="C:\\Program Files\\AuroraWatching" The code should be written all uppercase with no spaces between the 5 4 characters strings. The strings are separated by a "-". Some users also complained about a missing code in their game manual. If that's the case, 2 generic codes are (were) provided in the game forum pages. One of them should work. For 64 bit installs. If some of the polygons disappear while the main character is moving and the frame rate is low in spite of a low graphic details configuration, probably your system is not using the 32 bit opengl libraries, but the 64 bit ones. Run "export LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH=/usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri" before starting the game; this should solve the issue.
