MyScribe

What works

Basic Operation: Log in, download textbooks, read textbooks, and take notes. Fonts are showing up fine now. MyScribe can successfully back itself up via the "Copy MyScribe to USB Drive" option under the File menu.

What does not

Text-to-speech will cause an access violation and crash the application. Some animations cause the program to 'flicker' graphically.

Additional Comments

Upon running for the first time, the program would crash with an access violation after logging in. This happened 4 times (which is the number of books I have available, perhaps this is relevant?), and then the program worked fine afterwards.

Do not click "Enable Speech" under the "Speech" menu, or hit its hotkey (F2). Doing so will cause it to attempt to enable speech upon startup of the program. This will, as previously mentioned, cause the application to crash. Since this crash will occur upon startup, the program will be rendered useless unless it is reinstalled or the configuration is reset (I am not sure how to do this).

If you have problems with the primary MyScribe program, or somehow cause it to crash upon starting, you may have better luck with the Portable version. MyScribe Portable can be found at "$WINEPREFIX/drive_c/Program\ Files/CafeScribe/MyScribe/bin/MyScribePortable.exe". $WINEPREFIX is usually the ".wine" folder in your home directory by default.
