Safari

What works

• HTTPS sites

• Text anti-aliasing

• Toolbars and other settings, Top sites, History, and most other features.

• Web inspector, resources time-line and other web development features.

• Flash plugin - HD videos YouTube in Window and full-screen work excellently. Graphic intensive 3D Flash based games work well, but with latency and limited FPS.

• Theme from deviantART added through winecfg.

• The interface and pages also load and work quickly, slightly slower than native browsers (Firefox , Chromium, etc) installed, but much quicker than Internet Explorer 8 stored in the same WINEPREFIX.

What does not

• Some HTML5 and CSS features, most likely due to old version of Safari 5.

• If the preferences window was last closed with one of the tabs after the first open, the tabs icons are all jammed into the left side of the window when it is next opened – this can be resolved by pressing the arrow buttons on the window.

• Animated images (such as those on Google's home page) have a slower framerate.

Additional Comments

Safari 5.0 (7533.16), installed using winetricks version 20140817 sourced from http://winetricks.googleacode.com/svn/trunk/src/winetricks . Winetricks was also use to install flash (v14.0.0.179). Has own 32bit WINEPREFIX shared with IE8 install. Both Safari and Flash not the latest version but work fully. When manually updated to, both Safari 5.1.2 and 5.1.7 crash with webkit2webprocess error.
