This game is powered by Unreal Engine 2.5 so like most games that use that engine it should run, the launcher is the real problem however because the game can only be run by it. EDIT: i have changed the rating from Garbage to Bronze just for this beta version but when the full game will be release it's highly possibly it will use somekind of protection like GameGuard and will be unable to run

I am able to play the game quite well on linux without any kind of error or wierd graphic problem, however, the only way to make it run is to bypass the launcher. Please bare in mind that the first Close Beta is over so only single player (offline/practice mode) will be possible.Now let's get started.

1)download&install the CB game client (links should be still up)

2)install vcrun2008 with winetricks

3)go to ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/alaplaya/LOCO/System (or to wherever you've installed the game) and use your favourite hex editor (i preffer http://wxhexeditor.sourceforge.net/) to open Core.dll; make sure you make a backup of the original first

4)go to offset 0x3CE11 and replace 07 with EB (from JE to JMP) and save the file;you can now start the game with LOCO.exe and thus bypass the launcher

As you might of noticed when you've started the game you will be taken to the lobby first which is a problem since the CB is over and the login servers are down, but don't worry, we can tell the game what map to load first by renaming the map files

5)go to your Maps folder and rename any of the following (S0T0.cpr, S1T1.cpr, S1T4.cpr, S1T5.cpr or tutorial_1.cpr, tutorial_2.cpr, tutorial_3.cpr if you want the tutorials) to (BI_ALLSTAR.cpr), after making sure to backup the original BI_ALLSTAR.cpr file

6)you can switch your hero by editing the User.ini in the game System folder, it should be straightforward

Congratz! All done, you can start the game now.

The HOWTO is only for the current CB client, also please note that by modifying any of the game files you are in danger of breaking the EULA

I just noticed two things wrong with the game after applying the howto: you cannot quit the game and your heroes will only have lvl.1 gear (this can however be fixed by editing the User.ini file)
