What works

Installation, basic use all work. There are various small issues, mostly cosmetic rendering bugs and some of the widgets work a bit wonkily, see extra notes below. Startup can also be very slow.

What does not

UI is not usable with built-in Wine gdiplus.dll.

Additional Comments

Native Windows gdiplus.dll makes most of the UI work, Wine builtin has various rendering issues, including main image view updating irregularly (practically unusable). Even with native Windows gdiplus.dll, things sometimes render badly. Needs SRGB color profile for images to be visible. Copy sRGB.icm to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/spool/drivers/color/sRGB Color Space Profile.icm

HowTo / Notes

HOWTO
To work optimally, Adobe Lightroom 3.0 requires the following dependencies to be installed:
  • MS Visual C++ 6 runtime
  • Standard RGB color profile
  • gdiplus.dll (graphical library)
  • Windows version set to 'vista' or 'win7'
You can easily set up your Wine environment for Lightroom using winetricks. The following command will get you started: 
winetricks vcrun6 colorprofile corefonts gdiplus vista
If you experience problems with the menu bar up top not showing up, you have forgotten to set your Windows version.
