What works
installer, game
:D
What does not
This game doesn't work with winetricks glsl-disable [default settings in wine]
Some problems with graphic settings high and maximum - shadows doesn't work good,
I can't change my resolution to native 1366x768 in game, only 800x600, 1024x600, 1024x768,
but i can make this only in configuration file( .wine/drive_c/users/"username"/Application Data/Need for Speed World/Settings/UserSettings.xml) in section VideoConfig

Additional Comments
/// I do not speak English well First i compiled new version of wine 1.3.21 then i did it: winetricks dotnet20, winetricks ie7 ... Then i installed the game. Game only runs, when i make winetricks glsl-disable. Sometimes game lags/hangs[about 0,5 second] but newer freezes. Game tested on: Intel C2D 2,1GHz ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650 1GB memory:800MHz, core:600MHz 3GB RAM, kernel 2.6.38-2-amd64, ATI drivers v10.9 On medium settings and res.1366x768 i have ~10-25fps, on windows i had much more.

With a fresh Wine prefix, do:
winetricks d3dx9 dotnet20 ie7 glsl-enable gdiplus
Then install the game as normal. Nothing else should be required. Feel free to experiment, but if something breaks, be sure to try this before asking for help.
Thanks to Andrew Richards and Ursan Marius Bogdan for the gdiplus tip.The game update may fail, sometimes several times; simply click 'update' again to resume from where you left off, and it will eventually finish.
With recent versions of the NFS World launcher, clicking the update button has no effect. (This does not appear to be a problem with Wine; the same thing happens in Windows.) Closing and relaunching the game sometimes helps, but a more effective (and faster) way to work around this it to copy the game data over from a working Windows installation.
