I haven't tried the other games in the series with Jaunty (running Jaunty-64 on an AMD 3700, Nvidia 7200GS using the latest drivers).

Native version

In case you're not already aware, Half-Life 2: Deathmatch is available natively on Linux as of early 2013.

The Steam Store page (store.steampowered.com/app/320/) as of this posting has not been updated to reflect that. However don't worry, purchasing (or getting it free via the ATI/Nvidia deals) will make it accessible via Steam's Linux client.
Is this referring to Half-Life 2 Deathmatch?

Because the section is very misleading.

Be that as it may, I am wondering why HL2DM doesn't work on my Debian Squeeze build?

Actually, I discovered something, when playing in a free-for-all, it crashes after extreme action happens, however when playing in a team-based server, (similar to TF2), it plays beautifully. What's the problem here?

That happens to me too on Wine 1.3.14. I think we should report a bug...

Yeah, it works perfectly when you're on a TF2 based server, but a free-for-all has an instant crash.
Scrambled fonts
by evristow on Wednesday July 28th 2010, 16:21
To solve the scrambled fonts issue:

1 - Download steamfonts.zip from support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1974-YFKL-4947

2 - Unzip the contents to ~/.wine/windows/fonts

or

1 - Install corefonts and tahoma from winetricks
