If installed the Band-In-A-Box from the downloadable version. It is necessary to do a "winetricks wm9" before running the program. After that it seems to work. I use QSynth and jack for sound, since I have them on my system. I am not sure this is the only way, but it seems to work.
I've loaded styles, demo songs, printed out lead sheets, changed to the Jazz fonts. I am still working to discover the many features the program has.
I have wine 1.1.44, and Ubuntu 10.04 with the latest kernel and updates.
What does not
Minimizing the main window only makes parts of the window invisible. You have to use the right mouse on the task menu item to "minimize" and "unminimize" the window to get the screen back.
What was not tested
The Platinum rating may be optimistic, since I have not tested all features. Leave this as my momentary choice to be confirmed. The version of wine I have is wine-1.1.44.
