What works

Installation, single player game, hitting/pitching/defensive/baserunning practice drills.

What does not

Framerate is very slow in-game.  For the drills, when the stadium is rendered but there are only a handful "bystanders" rendered in the stands, gameplay is very smooth.  For a regular game where the stadium is rendered full of spectators, framerate slows to a crawl and gameplay becomes jerky and makes hitting extremely difficult.

Additional Comments

There is a test mode that plays through a portion of a regular game and measures your framerate. I could only get my framerate up to 24, even with 640x480 resolution and all video settings at minimum, despite the fact that my system exceeds the recommended specs by a good margin. At 1920x1200 with details maxed, the framerate only dropped to 16. I suspect this has something to do with the rendering of the crowd, because as I said above, the gameplay is silky smooth when you play a drill.
