Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, and Legacy of the Void, including Starter Editions
Please try the Stater Edition before buying the game to make sure it works on your system (link below). It includes the first campaign (Wings of Liberty) and the Arcade (Mods)
Consider including the following in your test results:
Campaign works perfectly, so does VS AI, and all menus that I came across.
Wine staging is required to launch, as of very recently (2019-01-11). See extra comments for details.
What does not
Very minor layout glitches in the launcher. Easily fixed - see below.
Installing corefonts is needed to fix some minor layout glitches in the launcher.
What was not tested
The arcade, and ranked matchmaking.
I mainly submitted this to let people know that as of a very recent Battle.net and/or Starcraft 2 update (within the past two days, as of 2019-01-11), wine staging is required to launch Starcraft 2.
In case anyone cares, the relevant patch sets are: winebuild-Fake_Dlls, ntdll-User_Shared_Data, ntdll-Builtin_Prot. I confirmed this by building wine with just these patch sets, and successfully running Starcraft 2. I don't know if an even smaller set of patches works.
Thanks to the people in #winehq who helped investigate this, and especially to Mystral who guessed that it was these specific patch sets - as I understand it, because there've been similar problems with other Blizzard games recently, due to "anti-cheat".
If you don't know what all that means, just use wine staging.
I was forced to give a Gold rating, because of the rating definitions, but really the game works great.

If using custom gamma settings or using an application that automatically changes gamma (e.g. redshift) then at specific times, your gamma setting may reset for a short time.
To fix this, open the registry editor and navigate to:
Inside the newly created "X11 Driver" add the chain value "UseXVidMode" and set it to "N".
After a Battle.net update or a crash, there are sometimes old processes left running that may interfere with your next launch. These processes can be killed before trying again:
killall -i -r '.exe'
Or you can do this manually (and more safely):
ps x #and then....kill as necessary after you got the process ID in the first column
#of course it doesn't hurt to take a look at the manual for these commands:
You can download the StarCraft II Starter Edition for free via the Battle.net Launcher, which includes the first campaign (Wings Of Liberty) and the Arcade (Mods).
Please test how / if the game works before buying it.
As of October Windows XP is no longer supported
