What works
Video recording of the test.
Loading replays
I could successfully load replays, see statistics and fast forward them.
Graphics settings
The graphics dialog works at the login screen and in game. Options are saved.
Not all settings work, and some settings have issues.
Textures Quality
Works fine with Ultra.
Post-Processing
I get blurry unit 3D avatars when this is high. So i go with medium.
Reflections
I could not see any difference when turned off. They run on the cpu, so this should work in theory.
Effects
Do not change anything, so I turn them off.
Shaders
Low - Work perfectly and fast
High - Normal Mapping works, but there a black spots which look like depth fighting.
Ultra - The crystals make some blue shadows, performance is decreased.
Extreme - I did not notice anything but slowness, and my GTX275 went 80°C
Lightning
Does not change anything, so I turn it off.
Shadows
This low shadows work with every unit. They draw a round texture under every unit.
Higher shadow settings have bugs, the only the overlord shadows are drawn, they are at the wrong place on the ground and don't look too good.
Terrain
High settings seem only to add more foliage, so no special effects. But Ultra performs ok.
Physics
Since it is CPU based, I set it to Ultra, and had no performance decrease.
Models
High works.
Unit Portraits
All options work, so I went with 3D.
Movies
There is no campaign in the beta, so no movies to test.
Sound
Sound works when the mmdevapi library is disabled in winecfg.
What does not
Installer
The installer crashes. I had to install it in a virtual machine. The installation in portable, like WC3 and WoW.
Application quits when typing anything in the login field and confirming. The login dialog is written in Flash.
Workarounds
What was not tested
Multiplayer
Since the login just quits, I can not login into Battle.net

Additional Comments
I had to set my Windows to Win7, due to performance issues during loading maps and gameplay. I get safe graphics warnings with xp. The login screen runs fine in XP, and utilizes the shader settings. If the installer had worked, I would give this Silver.

If using custom gamma settings or using an application that automatically changes gamma (e.g. redshift) then at specific times, your gamma setting may reset for a short time.
To fix this, open the registry editor and navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/
Inside the newly created "X11 Driver" add the chain value "UseXVidMode" and set it to "N".
wineserver -k
You can download the StarCraft II Starter Edition for free via the Battle.net Launcher, which includes the first campaign (Wings Of Liberty) and the Arcade (Mods).
Please test how / if the game works before buying it.
