Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, and Legacy of the Void, including Starter Editions
Please try the Stater Edition before buying the game to make sure it works on your system (link below). It includes the first campaign (Wings of Liberty) and the Arcade (Mods)
Consider including the following in your test results:
* Installation works (after several tries and cleanup-was trying to install on separate ext3 filesystem. Worked once that was removed and installed SC2 on the same filesystem as the rest of .wine). Â
* Patching works flawlessly
* Sound works with "mmdevapi" DLL set to "disabled"
* Single and Multi-player games (tested with one campaign game and one practice leaguÂe game)
What does not
ÂÂ* Crash report (ACCESS_VIOLATION) Âupon logout (no real impact from what I can tell)
* Haven't run into anything that does not work yetÂÂÂ
What was not tested
* Map Editor
Software installed: kmod-nvidia.x86_64 (195.36.31-1.fc13.1) kernel.x86_64 (188.8.131.52-147.fc13) wine.x86_64 (1.2.0-1.fc13) http://wiki.winehq.org/Gecko (not sure if it's required) xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i686 (195.36.31-2.fc13) - Important and must be explicitly installed to get game to start after installation. Other tweaks/workarounds: * Set Wine profile to "Windows 7" instead of "Windows XP" * "mmdevapi" DLL override to "disabled" to get sound to work (Fedora 13 defaults to pulseaudio) * Needed the "unhide" mount option to see all the files on the DVD * Needed to copy contents on DVD to C drive in order for it to start properly: ~/.wine/drive_c/sc2install/ * Installer suggests you need 12 GB free space (8 GB after install, so the extra space is needed for patching).

If using custom gamma settings or using an application that automatically changes gamma (e.g. redshift) then at specific times, your gamma setting may reset for a short time.
To fix this, open the registry editor and navigate to:
Inside the newly created "X11 Driver" add the chain value "UseXVidMode" and set it to "N".
After a Battle.net update or a crash, there are sometimes old processes left running that may interfere with your next launch. These processes can be killed before trying again:
killall -i -r '.exe'
Or you can do this manually (and more safely):
ps x #and then....kill as necessary after you got the process ID in the first column
#of course it doesn't hurt to take a look at the manual for these commands:
You can download the StarCraft II Starter Edition for free via the Battle.net Launcher, which includes the first campaign (Wings Of Liberty) and the Arcade (Mods).
Please test how / if the game works before buying it.
As of October Windows XP is no longer supported
