    Additional Comments

My opinion: It is very disturbing that Blizzard removed the LAN mode and even single player is not allowed offline. To use the stripped down guest accounts I have to activate my internet connection, log-in to my bnet-account, log-out and than activate a guest account. So you need to supply Blizzard with your real-name, postal address and be online even if you only play in single-player mode. The new BNet tries to copy Steam but it is even worse than that. Only buy this game if you really loved SC1, have a flatrate and give a shit about privacy! How I got it working: Rebuild unmodified kernel source from Debian/experimental on a amd64 Sid. linux-image-2.6.35-rc6-amd64 (2.6.35~rc6-1~experimental.1) Created the missing linux-kbuild-2.6.35 out of linux-kbuild-2.6.34. Installed built kernel, headers and kbuild. Booted the kernel and installed the proprietary driver (195.36.24-4) with "sgfxi -d". Reinstalled nvidia-glx-ia32 (195.36.24-4). DLL override: "mmdevapi" -> "disabled" I failed to install directly from dvd. So I mounted the dvd with nohide, copied the content to disk and installed from there. The files from the Blizzard-downloader are identical to the files on the dvd. At time of writing the current SC2 patch-level was 1.0.2.16223. Tested the EU-GB and EU-DE versions.

    HowTo / Notes

    WINE overrides X gamma settings

If using custom gamma settings or using an application that automatically changes gamma (e.g. redshift) then at specific times, your gamma setting may reset for a short time.

To fix this, open the registry editor and navigate to:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine

Then add the "X11 Driver" key.

Inside the newly created "X11 Driver" add the chain value "UseXVidMode" and set it to "N".
