Additional Comments

-1.8ghz dual core amd turion tl-56 processors -2 gb of ram (256mb shared with video memory, so 1.7 left) -Ati radeon Xpress 1100 integrated notebook graphics card. 512mb total graphics memory, 256mb dedicated, 256mb shared -Gallium 0.4 on ATI RS480 = graphics driver Running the game on 1368x768 resolution. Had do adjust desktop resolution and the variables.txt file for the game to the same dimensions for it to work properly. I can go through menus and navigate the game options at a reasonable speed given the outdated stats on my hardware. However, it takes about half an hour to load liberation day, the first level, and once the game starts it runs at 0 frames per second. Hovering over the menu button reveals: "Framerate 0 fps. 4 resource stalls for 235mc in the last minute" and across the top it says "Try closing other applications to improve performance." In short, single player is unplayable. Video scenes are also delayed, but not 0fps. It pauses every 1 second of dialogue...which...gets...real....ly....a...noy...ing... I had previously gotten the game to run smoother on wine 1.5.23. I'm inclined to believe that an update to Starcraft 2 is causing the downgrade in performance. The game theoretically should be able to run on minimum settings on my hardware. It could be that the game isn't using both cores to run, which would mean insufficient processing power.

HowTo / Notes

WINE overrides X gamma settings

If using custom gamma settings or using an application that automatically changes gamma (e.g. redshift) then at specific times, your gamma setting may reset for a short time.

To fix this, open the registry editor and navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine

Then add the "X11 Driver" key.

Inside the newly created "X11 Driver" add the chain value "UseXVidMode" and set it to "N".
