What does not
With the CSMT patches applied, the graphics are corrupted when the game starts. Open the options and toggle the anti-alias box, and the graphics will return to normal. The youtube video of this was very helpful.
What was not tested
Wine version 1.7.1 with CSMT patches Kernel version 3.12.3 llvm 3.4 gcc 4.8.2 Mesa version 10.0 compiled with openCL, lvm-r600 backend Video Card AMD Radeon 6970 2 GB Video Card driver r600 CPU AMD FX 8350 The frame rates are excellent after building the software above. The CSMT patches let SC2.exe utilize ~2.3 cores during gameplay (according to top). Every (allowed) setting on high or ultra, I get 35-60 FPS @ 1920x1200, depending on the number of elements on screen. Rarely has it dropped below 30 FPS. For comparison, on windows I can run everything on Extreme, including the shaders (which are forced to low using the wine settings), and lighting, and get around 45-70 FPS. Installation was not tested. The game folder was directly used from a windows partition.

If using custom gamma settings or using an application that automatically changes gamma (e.g. redshift) then at specific times, your gamma setting may reset for a short time.
To fix this, open the registry editor and navigate to:
Inside the newly created "X11 Driver" add the chain value "UseXVidMode" and set it to "N".
After a Battle.net update or a crash, there are sometimes old processes left running that may interfere with your next launch. These processes can be killed before trying again:
killall -i -r '.exe'
Or you can do this manually (and more safely):
ps x #and then....kill as necessary after you got the process ID in the first column
#of course it doesn't hurt to take a look at the manual for these commands:
You can download the StarCraft II Starter Edition for free via the Battle.net Launcher, which includes the first campaign (Wings Of Liberty) and the Arcade (Mods).
Please test how / if the game works before buying it.
As of October Windows XP is no longer supported
