FIFA 99

Football (Soccer) game. It works fine. The speed is fine and everything seems to work (sound and graphics). The graphics are a little choppy but reasonably good. There seems to be a problem if I try to open another application, like gmix. I was able to run it right from the CD. I used the default wine that comes with RedHat 7.3

What works

running the game directly from the CD. this is useless for two reasons.

1) it's slightly choppy
2) you can't save anything

What does not

starting the setup via the autostart. you need to start it with the /setup/[language]/setup.exe
the setup itself is flaky. sometimes it hangs up. but you will be able to install the game, eventually. however - when the install is done, it will try to start the 3dsetup. this won't work. "Could not detect hardware" will pop up, and it won't go away till you kill the setup. doing so will result in the setup removing all the installed files. lovely. thus you have to copy all the files before you kill it, then put them back into the folder afterwards. the game will consequently work. well uhm, almost. the game is installed, but it won't launch. it gives me "unable to change BPP from 32 to 16". oh, and the 3dsetup will complain about no registry keys so it's useless.

Workarounds

What was not tested

the game itself after installing it.
