If ignored "stuck" Microsoft Money Splash screen (see "What does not work" section)
Help -> About Microsoft Money
opened a pop-up window "About Microsoft Money" which reported the program as:
Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe
Serial Number: 02193-835-3050677-04523
Help -> Microsoft Money Help
did open the expected help window which appeared to be fully functional.
What does not
Program started OK
Then Microsoft Money Splash screen appeared with a "spinning cicle" cursor if the cursor was moved outside of the pop-up window. The cursor was a standard arrow if moved over the pop-up window itself.
The pop-up window did not disappear by itself, waiting up to 5 mins. Previous versions of wine (unfortunately I have no idea which ones and how long ago) I believed allowed the program to get past this point and into the main program.
This pop-up window could also not be dismissed by clicking on the pop-up window.
With pop-up window still present if in the main window a "top" menu item was pressed (ie File) could be pressed and a drop down menu appeared.
Note on pressing the "top" menu item the pop-up "Microsoft Money Splash screen" window went behind the main program window.
However when a sub-menu item was selected:
File -> Open...
the program crashed.
What was not tested
Not every menu item was checked to see which crashed the program, which did nothing, and which worked.
Unable to test the basic program functionality as it crashed when trying to open or create a new file.
Program installed in clean wine prefix:
WINEPREFIX=~/.wine32_msmoneysunset WINEARCH=win32 wine "$HOME/Documents/WindowsPrograms/msmoney/MS Money Sunset Versions/USMoneyDlxSunset.exe"
WINEPREFIX=~/.wine32_msmoneysunset WINEARCH=win32 wine "c:\Program Files\Microsoft Money Plus\MNYCoreFiles\msmoney.exe"
Version of wine reported by installation:
$ wine --version
Wine debug reported the System information as:
Wine build: wine-4.0-rc5
Version: Windows 7
Host system: Linux
Host version: 4.15.0-43-generic

To get around bug #32880, use winetricks to install ie6, then install MS Money.
I wanted to retest and confirm my previous report for others, and determine what actually does what.
Winetricks - install MSXML3 (required), MSXML4 (fixes Portfolio Manger), IE7 (required) - Note Money doesn't run with IE6.
Install Money. Should be functional at this point. You can create a new money file, or browse/open an existing one.
At this point all should be good except on the bank accounts screen. Account type subtotals will be misaligned. If you winetricks install comctl32.dll it will fix the alignment, but it will break File,Open a new file / File, Backup. Backup will still work if you do a File, Close.
Winetricks - CoreFonts does not seem to be required, nor does VCRun2005.
If you run MSMoneyQuotes from Gaier Software, Winetricks install DotNet45.
