What works
Mostly everything now. The program installs and runs. I also install the garmin-forerunner package based on past experience. To achieve communication with a Garmin 705 connected through a usb lead, I had to keep Wine Config OPEN. Under the Drives tab, highlight the drive (in my case E:/media/Garmin) and for Type select Floppy. Don't close Wine Config. After downloading from my 705 was completed there is a wait of about 30 seconds before the process has finished. No need to press Abort.
What does not
I haven't found anything with the program. There is however, an issue with Wine, if Wine config is closed an incorrect link is created in dosdevices and the program will not recognise a connected device. If Wine Config is closed Type in Drives defaults to Autodetect.
Workarounds
What was not tested
The Goodle Earth link.

Additional Comments
Using the same method, the GarminWebUpdater program also runs under Wine, it connecting to my 705 and checks if there are any system software updates. Apparently it is fully working with my 705. Here too Wine Config has to remain OPEN, Floppy selected for Type then Apply. If you close Wine Config it creates an incorrect link and wont recognise a connected Garmin 705 device.
