Sound not workin in-game
by Johan on Wednesday June 3rd 2015, 9:52
Sound works fine when in the spashscreen, but as soon as i get into the menu or in-game it gets quiet. Watching the trailers in the "extras" section in the menu works fine, but listening to the music there doesn't work.

I also tried removing the OpenAL32.dll file in the game to use the system ones instead, but no luck there.
Unplug your gamepad.
by stqn on Sunday March 29th 2015, 9:08
After posting the review with a bronze rating because the game was running very slowly and trying everything without any success, I started reading all the old reviews here and found the solution: I had to unplug my gamepad, and now the game is running smoothly (even with physx on, but I have an nvidia GPU).

Hm actually I had to disable PhysX or some sequences are very slow.
Set it to Windows XP
by Yajo on Friday August 29th 2014, 6:45
The game was lagging a lot on action scenes, and I fixed it simply by setting it to Windows XP.

Freezing on loading screen
by Johan on Saturday November 30th 2013, 9:50
My game freezes at the start of the loading screen at startup. The splash screen before works fine though.
Htop also shows me that Mirrors Edge runs in two processes, and when killing one of them both dies.
Does anyone else have this issue?

Using xmonad on manjaro with wine version 1.7.7.

Same problem.

wine-1.7.39, os x 10.10
RE: Freezing on loading screen

This doesn't happen for me anymore actually. Since my last report i have switched from Ubuntu to Arch Linux, switched from xmonad to bspwm and switched from a ATI 4870 on open source drivers to NVidia 750ti proprietary, so my setup is totally different now.

I have no idea what did it, good luck trying to figure it out though.
sound issues related to OpenAL
by sdog on Friday August 23rd 2013, 16:32
The OpenAL version shipped with mirrors edge is outdated and appears to have a known bug. Removing or renaming /Binaries/openal32.dll will cause mirrors edge to use wine's default. Having installed a 32 bit openal library on my Arch 64 bit system fixes my sound problems. (that was no sound at all)

Good Tip :)
Runs flawlessly on high settings
by Booman on Tuesday August 20th 2013, 15:59
I was able to run Mirror's Edge with all settings on high
Physx had to be turned off, but otherwise, runs absolutely GREAT!
I even made a step-by-step guide on how to install, configure and run Mirror's Edge:
"Everything is bright" bug
by David Deutsch on Monday January 10th 2011, 9:03
To get rid of the "everything is bright" bug (where all textures are white and you cannot make out anything at all), I had to switch to Windows XP or Vista mode. In Windows Vista or Windows 7 mode, it always failed.

Now I just need to make it work beyond the training mission...
by Tobu on Wednesday December 26th 2012, 16:30
Hmm. As a follow-up to my report above, I've been able to run the training mission by using a video reference to the game menus to switch resolutions ( ) but the rest of the game fails with a large black and white shape blocking the view. Did you use sandy bridge graphics as well?
by H3g3m0n ☢☣☠⚛ on Wednesday December 29th 2010, 6:16
I have noticed that the game seems to lag with PhysX enabled when the physics stuff is happening (such as when you are being shot at by the chopper and the glass is breaking).

PhysX can be disabled in the options menu and only seems to be used to make the glass leave behind shards when it shatters (maybe some other minor visual effects).

The Anti-aliasing option is disabled (I think I have the same thing in other games).

Alt+Tabbing sometimes causes the graphics to freeze (although input and sound keeps going). Although if you die or manage to quit to the main menu it resumes.
