What works

Most things.

What does not

  • Install crashes while installing PhysX. The game seems to work after the crashed install though.
  • Colors are very dark and ugly. This is caused by the default depth of field settings (bug exists in Windows) and can be fixed by adding "DepthOfField=False" under [SystemSettings] in GamerConfig.ini (located in users/username/My Documents/Mass Effect 2 Demo/BIOGame/Configs
  • The mouse does not wrap the screen, making the game difficult to play. There are some possible fixes listed for the main game but I have not tried them yet.
  • Eyeballs are all black. Might be a video driver problem (I am using latest for my platform)
  • Some characters do not lipsync properly unless GLSL is disabled.
  • The lighting in the character creation screen is very dark, rendering the creator useless.

    Additional Comments

I used winetricks d3dx9, d3dx10, glsl-disable. If it were not for the mouse issue and the eyes/character creator, I would rate it as Gold. It is rather playable.

    HowTo / Notes

DLC for Mass Effect 2 seems to work okay. You need an EA account & Bioware account. You have to link your bioware account to your EA master account.

When done, you can login to  and download the  content manually.

I have tested the Inferno Armor, Blood Dragon Armor, Zaeed - The Price of Revenge (Cerberus Network), Normandy Crash Site (Cerberus Network).

Launch the installer in the wineprefix you have Mass Effect 2 installed, the installer will fail (for me) at cleaning up the install. It is safe to kill the install process.

Once you have started Mass Effect 2, login to the Cerberus Network with your EA account and the DLC will be authorised (you may get a warning the first time)
